KEN’S CAT LOG

Daily App Store Report 2026-09-16

Playdigious launched four retro-tier titles (Potion Permit / Legend of Keepers / Dead Cells / 베어 너클 4) simultaneously into paid ios-games charts across multiple countries, while Apple’s “Siri” debuted at #2 in the US ios-utilities free chart. Today’s new entries have two main themes: a batch release and a platform owner’s own app.

1. New Entries

Today’s biggest development was the simultaneous rollout of Playdigious’s catalog. In paid ios-games, Potion Permit (KR #15 / JP #30 / DE #85 / GB #86), Legend of Keepers (US #24 / DE #32 / GB #36 / HR #37, as well as US #38 and elsewhere in the overall paid chart), Dead Cells (GB #62 / JP #65 / KR #65 / DE #95), and 베어 너클 4 (KR #7 / DE #26 / GB #98) all appeared on the same day. This is today’s strongest signal of a single publisher expanding across multiple countries in one day. Alongside this, Apple’s “Siri” appeared at US ios-utilities free #2, as well as GB #65 / JP #85 / KR #88. Among utility apps, Mockup - UI/UX Design appeared in five countries (DE #41–GB #93), while Matchy Maps entered paid ios-navigation at the high ranks of DE #2 / GB #4.

2. Sharp Rise Since the Baseline

The baseline date is 2026-08-24, 23 days ago. It is the earliest date in the archive, so note that this is not a full month. The biggest gain was 風水診断: 玄空飛星風水 (JP paid ios-lifestyle #5, +91), followed by Min Habit and ドラゴンクエスト X オフライン (JP overall paid #22, +77). In the US, Kalshi reached overall free #9 (+71), and Instagram reached ios-photo-video grossing #3 (+67). Among apps absent from the baseline but now in the top 20, ドッカンバトル (JP ios-games grossing #1), エアウォレット (JP overall free #1), and Muse from Meta (US #2 in both productivity free and overall free) stand out.

3. By Tier

The top tier (1–10) was almost unchanged: held 85% / new 2% / |Δ| 2.8. The mid tier was 81% / 7% / 6.7, while the bottom tier (51–100) was 69% / 19% / 9.6, where turnover was concentrated. Google stood out with 128 slots held in the top tier.

4. By Country

All 468 charts could be compared with the previous run. The US was the most stable, with 89% of top-10 entries held, while HR was the most fluid, at 83% held and 1,057 new entries. TestFlight and Procreate Pocket, along with Duolingo in education grossing, ranked #1 across all six countries. Local standouts included 설빙 (KR overall free #3), DHS Trusted Traveler (US travel free #3), and Dictionnaire italien Larousse (HR reference paid #1).

5. By Category

ios-shopping was the least dynamic, with 93% held and 74 new entries, while ios-sports was the most active at 77% held. The largest volumes of new entries were in ios-utilities (359), ios-music (341), and ios-education (319).

Key Findings

1. Playdigious expands four paid games across multiple countries on the same day; highest rank is KR #7

In paid ios-games, Potion Permit (KR #15 / JP #30 / DE #85 / GB #86), Legend of Keepers (US #24 / DE #32 / GB #36 / HR #37), Dead Cells (GB #62 / JP #65 / KR #65 / DE #95), and 베어 너클 4 (KR #7 / DE #26 / GB #98) appeared simultaneously. Legend of Keepers also carried over into the overall paid chart at US #38 / HR #58 / DE #71 / GB #74. It is rare to observe a single publisher releasing a catalog at this scale on the same day, rapidly filling open slots in paid game charts. The editorial angle for today can be “simultaneous release of a ported catalog.”

Confidence: High

2. Apple’s “Siri” debuts at US ios-utilities free #2 and launches in three other markets at the same time

In addition to US #2, it appeared at GB #65, JP #85, and KR #88 on the same day. The US rank is markedly higher, while the other markets remain in lower positions—an asymmetric launch suggesting a US-first rollout or promotional push. When a platform owner’s own app occupies a top utility position, it directly constrains visibility for existing apps in that category.

Confidence: High

3. A design utility launches simultaneously in five countries (Mockup - UI/UX Design)

In free ios-graphics-design, it appeared at DE #41 / JP #49 / HR #59 / US #71 / GB #93, its widest same-day entry across five markets. This category has a top-10 held rate of 81%, low even among all categories, making it relatively receptive to new entrants. As a content theme, “mockup/UI creation tools” is the material gaining traction across the broadest set of markets today.

Confidence: High

4. Paid navigation app Matchy Maps enters at DE #2 / GB #4

In paid ios-navigation, it entered at DE #2, GB #4, JP #15, and US #29. It reached the top five in two European markets on its first day, making it likely that actual sales, rather than simple exposure alone, are driving the result. ios-navigation is a fluid category, with top-10 held at 81%, leaving room to establish a position near the top.

Confidence: Medium

5. The baseline is 2026-08-24, 23 days ago—this is a little over three weeks, not “monthly”

The earliest collection date in the archive is 2026-08-24, so there is not yet a full month of data. The largest gains in this period were 風水診断: 玄空飛星風水 (JP paid ios-lifestyle #5, +91), ドラゴンクエスト X オフライン (JP overall paid #22, +77), Kalshi (US overall free #9, +71), and Instagram (US ios-photo-video grossing #3, +67). Presenting gains in the +90 range externally as “monthly growth” would overstate the result; the period must always be specified.

Confidence: High

6. Absent at baseline, now at the top: ドッカンバトル JP grossing #1, エアウォレット JP free #1, Muse from Meta US #2

Several entries were absent from the charts on 8/24 but are now immediately at or near #1. In Japan, ドラゴンボールZ ドッカンバトル is #1 in ios-games grossing and エアウォレット is #1 in overall free. In the US, Meta’s Muse from Meta is #2 in both free ios-productivity and overall free. A return-driven pattern (events for existing IP) and a new major-player launch are occurring at the same time, so they should be discussed as distinct types of movement.

Confidence: High

7. Turnover is concentrated in the lower tier: bottom new 19% / |Δ| 9.6, versus top new 2% / |Δ| 2.8

The top tier (1–10) was nearly static, with 85% held, 2% new, and an average movement of 2.8 places. The mid tier (11–50) was 81% held, 7% new, and 6.7 places. The bottom tier (51–100) was 69% held, 19% new, and 9.6 places; most of today’s new entries were absorbed here. In other words, “a new entry appeared” and “the top ranks moved” are different things. When discussing the top tier, only high-ranking debuts such as Siri and Matchy Maps should be highlighted.

Confidence: High

8. Google dominates top-tier slots (128 top slots)

Of the 4,675 slots in the #1–10 range, Google holds 128, followed by Microsoft Corporation with 32, Instagram, Inc. with 27, and Apple with 23. Google remains ahead in the mid tier as well with 147 slots, followed by Microsoft with 88. The stability of the top ranks is driven by the constant presence of a few major companies. Discussions of new entrants should focus on the remaining slots after accounting for these incumbents.

Confidence: High

9. The US is the most stable (top-10 held 89%), while HR is the most fluid (83% and 1,057 new entries)

All 78 charts in each of the six markets could be compared with the previous run. The US had 89% of top-10 entries held and 923 new entries. HR had 83% held and the most new entries at 1,057, followed by DE with 1,030. HR and DE can serve as test markets for early detection of new apps, while the US can be used to assess whether they take hold.

Confidence: High

10. Apps ranked #1 in all six markets: TestFlight, Procreate Pocket, and Duolingo (education grossing)

TestFlight ranked #1 in free ios-developer-tools across DE/GB/HR/JP/KR/US. Procreate Pocket also ranked #1 in paid ios-graphics-design across all six markets, and Duolingo ranked #1 in ios-education grossing across all six. LinkedIn ranked #1 in ios-business grossing in DE/GB/HR/US but #3 in JP/KR, making the boundary between globally consistent slots and those that weaken specifically in Japan and Korea clear.

Confidence: High

11. Local-only high performers: KR 설빙 overall #3, US DHS Trusted Traveler travel #3, HR Italian-French dictionary reference #1

In contrast to multi-country launches, several new entries ranked highly in only one market. KR’s 설빙 was #3 in overall free, the US’s DHS Trusted Traveler (US Customs and Border Protection) was #3 in free ios-travel, and in HR, Dictionnaire italien Larousse was #1 in paid ios-reference while ETO - Management Detailed CES was #1 in paid ios-education. These are likely driven by domestic campaigns, institutional factors, or government-related demand, and are less likely to translate horizontally into other markets.

Confidence: Medium

12. Category extremes: ios-shopping is the most static at 93% held and 74 new entries, while ios-sports is the most dynamic at 77% held

ios-shopping had the fewest new entrants of any category, at 74, and its top ranks were almost fixed. By contrast, ios-sports had the lowest top-10 held rate at 77%, with niche newcomers such as 유도 점수 타이머 2026 (KR paid #3) and KiteChannel UK (GB paid #5) reaching high ranks. ios-sports offers more room for new entrants, while ios-shopping is better suited to analysis of established leaders.

Confidence: High

13. The largest new-entry volumes are ios-utilities 359 / ios-music 341 / ios-education 319

These three categories saw the most row-level turnover. However, the top ranks remained stable, with ios-utilities at 84% top-10 held and ios-music at 87%. New entries are concentrated in the lower tier. A high number of newcomers does not mean the top ranks are easily attainable, so expectations should be set separately by category.

Confidence: High

14. Multi-country appearance in ios-weather grossing (Moonlitt) requires verification of the US result

Moonlitt: 달 위치와 위상 appeared in ios-weather grossing at JP #34 / GB #38 / DE #52 / US #94. However, today’s US/ios-weather/TOP_GROSSING collection is marked degraded, so the US #94 result should be treated with lower confidence than the other three markets. The same-day appearance is still supported by JP/GB/DE alone.

Confidence: Medium

Recommended Actions

  • Make Playdigious’s simultaneous catalog launch (Potion Permit / Legend of Keepers / Dead Cells / 베어 너클 4) today’s main story. KR #7 and US overall #38 offer an angle showing that it broke through not only within category charts but also into the overall chart.
  • Track Apple’s “Siri” at US ios-utilities free #2, alongside the asymmetry of GB/JP/KR at #65 or below, over the coming days. If other markets catch up with the US, it suggests a phased rollout; if not, it suggests a US-only initiative.
  • Consider ios-graphics-design (top-10 held 81%, 183 new entries) and ios-sports (held 77%) as categories with room for new entrants. Conversely, do not expect a strong new-release angle from ios-shopping (held 93%, 74 new entries).
  • When reporting gains from the baseline externally, always state “vs. 2026-08-24 (23 days).” Writing “monthly +91” would be factually inaccurate.
  • Add HR / DE to ongoing monitoring as early-detection markets for new apps (1,057 / 1,030 new entries; top-10 held 83% / 85%). Use the US (held 89%) to confirm whether apps are becoming established.
  • Include a re-fetch of US/ios-weather/TOP_GROSSING in the next run to verify Moonlitt’s US #94.
  • Before publishing, cross-check release information for entries absent at the baseline but now near #1 (ドッカンバトル JP grossing #1, エアウォレット JP free #1, Muse from Meta US #2), since coverage differs depending on whether they are return-driven or newly launched.

Data Quality Notes

All 468 target charts were collected successfully (0 missing), and 45,704 rows were analyzed. Every chart—468 out of 468—could be compared with the previous run on 2026-09-15; no charts were unavailable for comparison. The monthly baseline is 2026-08-24, but that was 23 days ago and is the earliest collection date in the archive. Since a full month of data is not yet available, the “change from baseline” figures in this report represent a little over three weeks, not monthly values. One chart has degraded quality: US/ios-weather/TOP_GROSSING. Rankings associated with it (for example, Moonlitt at US #94) should be treated with less confidence than those in other markets. Ratings are missing for 274,223 entries, so no analysis using star ratings was performed. Rows in charts that did not exist in the previous run were not counted as “new entries,” making new-entry counts conservative rather than overstated.
