KEN’S CAT LOG

Daily Google Play Report 2026-10-05

On 2026-10-05, AI photo/video generation apps and screen-customization apps in the “emoji battery/broken screen” category appeared simultaneously across multiple countries. Glam AI (GB #4, DE #7) and Emoji Battery Icon Customize (GB and JP #12) led the way, with launches rolling out across nearly all markets at once.

New Entries

The strongest signal is the large number of apps that appeared in multiple countries on the same day. Offline Maps & AI Trip Planner entered all six markets in maps-and-navigation/free (from HR #8 to JP #38). Glam AI: Video & Photo Editor entered photography at GB #4, DE #7, HR #15, US #20, and KR #33. Emoji Battery Icon Customize, Emoji Battery: DIY Status Bar, and Broken Screen: Magic Wallpaper—personalization apps focused on “playing with your screen”—launched across multiple countries simultaneously. On individual charts, HNS Ulaznice #1 and HNS SEMAFOR #2 in HR sports, along with Run 4 Wales #1 and Great Run #1 in GB, stood out. These all appear to be event-driven entries.

Sharp Monthly Gains (Baseline: 2026-09-05)

The baseline date is the oldest collection date in the archive, so it does not yet represent a full month of data. AI generation apps account for the largest gains. Nexus - AI Video Generator reached HR #2 (+43), Vidix reached GB #4 (+40), AI Mirror reached US #5 (+39), and Hailuo AI reached GB #5 (+31). Rotate Rings was not present on the baseline date and is now #1 in DE and HR.

By Tier

The top tier (ranks 1–10) is almost fixed, with held at 86%, new at 3%, and |Δ| at 1.6. The middle tier has held at 78% and |Δ| at 3.5. The lower tier (ranks 31–45) has held at 60%, new at 23%, and |Δ| at 4.7, with turnover concentrated near the bottom. Because developer data is missing, it is not possible to determine whether a small number of developers dominate the top ranks.

By Country

HR was the most active market, with 278 new entries. KR was the most volatile, with top-10 held at 84%, while DE was the most stable at 89%. Shared hits included ChatGPT (ranked #1–#2 in productivity/free across all markets), Rotate Rings (top-10 in six markets), and Suno. Localized movements included HWP Viewer at KR #1 (+30) and Kohnan at JP #13 (+29).

By Category

The categories with the greatest turnover were sports (held 71%), photography (74%), and personalization (75%, with 89 new entries). Games had the most new entries, at 106. By contrast, communication and food-and-drink had held at 94%, with almost no movement.

Key Findings

1. Offline Maps & AI Trip Planner entered all six maps-and-navigation/free markets on the same day

HR #8, DE #20, KR #26, GB #27, US #34, and JP #38. It was the only app to enter every target market on the same day, suggesting a coordinated rollout or the start of an ad campaign. Its ranks are still in the middle to lower range.

Confidence: High

2. AI photo and video generation apps launched simultaneously across multiple countries and also posted strong monthly gains

Glam AI (GB #4, DE #7, HR #15, US #20, KR #33), Sorapix (including US #8), Lumy, Framly, and AI Image Generator (HR #8, GB #10) launched simultaneously in multiple countries. On a monthly basis, Nexus (HR #2, +43), Vidix (GB #4, +40), AI Mirror (US #5, +39), and Hailuo AI (GB #5, +31) are rising. This is a broad trend spanning both art-and-design and photography.

Confidence: High

3. “Emoji battery/broken screen” personalization apps are rising simultaneously across multiple countries

Emoji Battery Icon Customize (GB #12, JP #12, DE #18, HR #18, US #36), Emoji Battery: DIY Status Bar (KR #9, GB #17, US #19), and Broken Screen: Magic Wallpaper (including HR #6) appeared. Monthly data also shows Emoji Battery: Status Bar Icon at HR #2 (+41) and Haha Broken, Broken Screen at KR #5 (+36). Personalization is seeing major turnover, with top-10 held at 75% and 89 new entries.

Confidence: High

4. Rotate Rings was absent on the baseline date and is now top-10 in game/free across six markets

DE #1, HR #1, US #1, JP #2, GB #3, and KR #7. It was absent on the baseline date of 2026-09-05, and newly entered the top 20 in DE and HR. GOGO! Blast, which has the same com.nebula package name, also appeared in multiple countries, including HR #12.

Confidence: High

5. 60 Seconds! Reatomized and Drop Duchy entered paid games in four markets simultaneously, while TABS also rose

60 Seconds! Reatomized ranked KR #23, JP #37, US #37, and GB #38. Drop Duchy ranked KR #28, US #28, GB #30, and JP #42. Fashion Mall Story entered at KR #5. TABS Pocket Edition rose to GB #10 (+31), KR #17 (+28), and US #10 (+25) from the previous period, possibly due to a sale or price reduction. However, game/TOP_PAID data for JP and KR is listed as coming from degraded sources, so those results should be interpreted cautiously.

Confidence: Medium

6. Sports-event-driven entries dominate the top sports rankings in HR and GB

In HR, HNS Ulaznice #1, HNS SEMAFOR #2, F1 TV #5, and Formula 1® #6 appeared. In GB, Run 4 Wales #1 and Great Run: Running Events (health-and-fitness) #1 appeared. F1 TV also entered multiple countries at HR #5, GB #31, and DE #38. Sports was the most volatile category overall, with top-10 held at 71%.

Confidence: High

7. Premium-brand-style paid watch faces launched simultaneously near the top in KR and GB

In KR, Rolex Daytona Watch Face #2, TAG HEUER CALIBRE #3, and LUMINOR PANERAI #4 entered both personalization/paid and watch-face/paid. In GB, TAG HEUER CARRERA 3 #2, Fallout Pip-Boy SE #3, and PER32 Ultra Hybrid #4 appeared. Watch-face showed substantial movement, with top-10 held at 79%.

Confidence: Medium

8. PDF and document viewers are rising sharply in tools and productivity across multiple countries

Compared with the previous period, PDF Reader & PDF Viewer rose to DE #2 (+42), HWP Viewer to KR #1 (+30), PDF Reader - Viewer, Edit PDF to HR #9 (+29), and PDF ProX to US #16 (+27) and GB #4 (+20). PDFMaster, which was absent on the baseline date, also reached #1 in DE tools.

Confidence: Medium

9. Health apps for blood glucose and blood pressure tracking entered the top ranks

GlucoNote launched simultaneously at DE #3, GB #15, and US #29, while also rising to HR #2 (+34). Artera: Blood Pressure App Log reached US #1 (+34). Health-and-fitness saw substantial turnover, with top-10 held at 79%.

Confidence: Medium

10. The top ranks are fixed, while turnover is concentrated in the lower ranks

Ranks 1–10 had held at 86%, new at 3%, and |Δ| at 1.6; ranks 11–30 had held at 78%, new at 7%, and |Δ| at 3.5; ranks 31–45 had held at 60%, new at 23%, and |Δ| at 4.7. Most newcomers entered from the lower ranks. Apps newly entering ranks #1–#4 today are therefore especially exceptional moves.

Confidence: High

11. HR was the most active and DE the most stable; KR’s top 10 was the most volatile

HR had the most new entries at 278, followed by US with 240 and DE with 236. DE had the highest top-10 held rate at 89%, while KR had the lowest at 84%. Only 49 of 61 GB charts could be compared, making previous-period readings weaker for that market.

Confidence: Medium

12. Global staples such as ChatGPT, WhatsApp, and Duolingo are not moving

ChatGPT ranks #1–#2 in productivity/free across all six markets and also ranks #1–#2 in grossing across all markets. Duolingo is #1 in education/free in five markets. Suno is #1 in music-and-audio/free in HR and #2 in DE. Communication and food-and-drink were the most stable categories, with top-10 held at 94%.

Confidence: High

Recommended Actions

  • Make AI photo and video generation (Glam AI, Nexus, Vidix, Hailuo AI) today’s central theme. Build a feature comparing which capabilities—hair changes, mirrors, and video generation—are gaining traction, centered on the simultaneous trend in GB, HR, and US.
  • Turn the emoji battery/broken screen personalization boom into short-form content. Place Emoji Battery Icon Customize (GB and JP #12) alongside Haha Broken (KR #5, +36), presenting them as a playful trend spreading across countries at the same time.
  • Track Rotate Rings (DE, HR, and US #1) and GOGO! Blast, which uses the same com.nebula package. If they remain in the top 10 next week, feature them as a winning hyper-casual pattern.
  • Treat HR’s HNS-related apps and F1 TV, plus GB’s Run 4 Wales and Great Run, as temporary event-driven increases. Check whether their rankings persist after a few days before covering them.
  • The simultaneous rise of TABS Pocket Edition in GB, KR, and US may be caused by a sale. Check for price changes and decide whether it can support a paid-games feature. However, because paid-game charts for JP and KR are degraded sources, prioritize verification.
  • For rows where names and package names do not match (com.zyventa.typerush and com.signal.android), verify the actual app on its store page before reporting on or featuring it.

Data Quality Notes

For the target date of 2026-10-05, 369 of 399 target charts were collected, totaling 13,546 rows; 30 charts could not be collected. The 399-chart target excludes 231 charts that were scheduled in the configuration but not published by the source. Of recent runs, six were partially completed, with 34 collection failures. Of the 369 charts, 331 could be compared with the previous run on 2026-10-02; rows from the remaining charts were not counted as new entries.

Degraded sources cover most TOP_GROSSING charts in DE and HR, TOP_GROSSING/TOP_PAID in many GB categories, and game TOP_GROSSING in JP, KR, and US (as well as TOP_PAID in JP and KR). Conclusions about revenue rankings and paid games should therefore be treated as provisional.

The monthly baseline date of 2026-09-05 is the oldest collection date in the archive and does not yet represent a full month of data.

Developer and ratingCount are missing from 81,124 records, while rating is missing from 2,024 records. As a result, it is not possible to analyze whether a small number of developers dominate the top ranks.

Some rows have mismatched app names and package names. For example, com.zyventa.typerush is displayed as “WhatsApp Messenger,” while com.signal.android is displayed as “Cantina.” This may indicate metadata retrieval errors or impersonation, and requires verification.
