Daily Viral Video — 2026-09-09

Only YouTube provided reliable verification of video links and view counts. There, K-pop solo comebacks (LISA, JISOO, and EVAN) saw the biggest surges, while Bluesky, X, Reddit, and Lemmy yielded almost no video-specific metrics.

Today's Viral Videos — 2026-09-09

In practice, YouTube was the only platform where we could properly verify the “video itself, uploader, and view count.” There, a wave of K-pop solo comebacks—BLACKPINK's LISA and JISOO, plus ENHYPEN Heeseung's solo project EVAN—was the biggest fast-rising story. Strictly speaking, only EVAN and Minecraft channel Spoke clearly qualify as having surged within the past 24–48 hours. Reddit, X, and Lemmy were driven less by the videos themselves than by controversy, reposts, and discussion around them; outrage-inducing stories (a bus-seat dispute, political bait memes, and anger about covert filming or surveillance) drew the strongest numbers. Bluesky remained at zero because every collection route was blocked. Overall, this was a case where “a video itself rapidly rising” and “anger about a video spreading” need to be treated as different phenomena.

Across platforms

  • Outrage and controversy were strongest: Reddit's two biggest threads were both controversy-driven (1,710 pts/754 comments for a bus-seat dispute, and 3,244 pts for a trend involving an older woman stepping into a bride's photo). On X, the fastest-growing item was not a video but a political one-line meme post involving Nazis/Serbia/Germans. Lemmy's top posts also centered on anger about surveillance, covert recording, and dangerous driving. Purely cute or funny “organic viral” content did not rank near the top on any platform.
  • “Trending” and actual virality are different things: #giveaways and #sweepstakes appeared as trends in X Explore, but posts actually using those tags were mostly bot-like or giveaway-farm accounts with zero to only a few likes.
  • Only YouTube could directly present the videos themselves: Reddit, X, and Lemmy were mainly about commentary, reposts, and screenshots around videos; posts that could provide the original video URL, view count, and like count together were rare to begin with. This is less a collection shortfall than a structural limitation of those platforms as link-aggregation or text-social services.
  • There was no Japan-specific “today's viral video”: Searches on both Reddit (for viral/trending videos) and YouTube (including Japanese-language news searches) found no breakout video originating in Japan. The only Japan-originated topic was the wakatte.TV controversy, but the video itself had been made private and the incident began on 8/28, making it somewhat old.

Platform by platform

Reddit — The 12 threads were spread across 12 subreddits, with no dedicated hub for viral videos. The highest-performing posts were both divisive: a video shaming a man for refusing to give up his window seat on a bus (1,710 pts/754 comments), and a video of older women stepping into brides' photos, said to steal the bride's luck (3,244 pts). Since Reddit is not primarily a place for posting and retaining videos, it could not produce the brief's desired format of 10 videos with links, uploaders, and view counts; this became a report based on discussion and reaction instead.

X — What the worker collected was not searches specifically targeting viral videos, but 40 posts from searches for the top 10 terms in Explore. Moreover, 60% of those trends were labeled “Trending in Croatia,” making this a geographically skewed session focused on Croatia/the Balkans. The largest number came from an official @Arsenal post (about 8.5 million views), but the collection data had no flag indicating whether a video was attached, so it was impossible to determine which of the 40 posts actually contained video. The only post clearly directing people to a video itself—an ABEMA karaoke-show clip—received almost no response (0–11 views).

YouTube — The official Trending page was blocked by a consent screen and JS rendering, so verification relied on secondary sources such as lenostube.com. K-pop solo comebacks—LISA's “SaWaDiKa” (140 million views), JISOO's “CLICK” (28.5 million), and EVAN's “Death of Me” (2.7 million in one day)—formed the largest cluster, while Minecraft channels (MrBeast Gaming, Parrot, and Spoke) also placed three videos. Of the 10 titles, however, only about two—EVAN and Spoke—strictly qualify as sharp rises within the past 24–48 hours; the others were long-tail titles that remained on trend four to 14 days after release.

Bluesky — Every attempted route hit a dead end: the public API (searchPosts returned 403 and getFeed returned 502), CORS proxies, direct browsing of bsky.app (JS shell only), third-party trend tools, and oembed (which offered no way to discover posts). No specific post could be verified. External news indicated that the iPhone Ultra announcement and the NFL season opener coincided that day, but no actually viral posts could be confirmed.

Lemmy — As a link-aggregation forum, Lemmy uses upvotes and comment counts rather than views. Very few qualifying posts appeared in the last 24–48 hours, so the window was expanded to one week, yielding seven items rather than the target 10. The leaders focused on AI, surveillance, and outrage: a video story about breaking an AI job-interview bot with hallucinations (396 upvotes), articles about covert-recording concerns around Meta smart glasses (cross-posted across multiple instances and effectively the largest response), and a dangerous-driving video from Birmingham (96 upvotes). Cases where a video originating on Lemmy itself rapidly takes off are rare; most posts are news-style reposts of videos that went viral elsewhere first.

What to watch

Recommendations

  • Prepare a Bluesky collection route before the next run—such as authenticated-session fetching or an official-app API token—so the result does not end at zero.
  • On X, switch from broad Explore collection to a method limited to search terms directly tied to viral videos and posts confirmed to include video embeds.
  • Enable direct access to YouTube's official Trending page through an authenticated session, eliminating dependence on secondary sources such as lenostube.com.
  • Change Reddit/Lemmy search queries to target only posts containing video URLs, avoiding a mix with discussion threads.
  • Continue watching view-growth patterns over the next few days during this concentrated K-pop solo-comeback period (LISA/JISOO/EVAN).
  • Because controversial clips consistently grow the fastest, make a “why it went viral” field mandatory in the next brief.

Data quality

Bluesky failed completely at zero items because all routes—from public APIs (403/502) to the JS-rendered SPA and third-party tools—were blocked. X collected 40 posts but had no data showing which contained video, so it could effectively confirm zero of the 10 videos the brief required. Reddit's 12 threads focused on discussion and reposts rather than videos themselves, making a list of 10 linked videos structurally unattainable. Lemmy reached only seven items against the target of 10, of which just two or three were within the past 48 hours. Only YouTube yielded 10 items, but they were verified through secondary information rather than the official page; moreover, only two or three of the 10 strictly represented a 24–48-hour surge.

What people say
  • #7, r/indiadiscussion, 1,710 pts / 754 comments, 2026-09-06 (https://www.reddit.com/r/indiadiscussion/comments/1w8sonc/) — A woman filmed a male bus passenger who refused to swap his window seat and posted it to shame him; it's the single biggest engagement number in the whole collection, driven entirely by backlash. Top comment (669 pts, u/Soaring_Eagle2410): "Get your own window seat woman.. you can't expect equality and preferential treatment in the same breath!"
  • #8, r/interesting, 3,244 pts / 244 comments, 2026-09-06 (https://www.reddit.com/r/interesting/comments/1w8vkmp/) — Highest score in the set: a Chinese-social-media trend of old ladies crashing the frame as brides enter, said to "steal the bride's good luck." Top comment (840 pts, u/Beyou74): "Is that why mom wore a wedding dress to my wedding?"
  • #1, r/YouTubeCreators, 28 pts / 7 comments, 2026-09-08 (https://www.reddit.com/r/YouTubeCreators/comments/1wawkj5/) — A creator reports jumping from 200k views in 3 years to 5M views in 4 days, posting the exact stats: 69.8% retention, 3.8% CTR, 100% APV, 0:20 AVD, 43k likes, 175 comments. Commenters (u/AlbatrossNew3633, u/Inside-Meet6348) press for the niche/topic; the poster doesn't reveal it in the collected text.
  • #4, r/youtube, 398 pts / 18 comments, 2026-09-04 (https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/1w6wwp5/) — Nostalgia post asking "remember when YouTube was full of stuff like this?" Top comment (93 pts, u/SenseAffectionate328): "Now it's filled with mundane ai slops." Directly disputed by u/mrloko120 (67 pts): "That type of content never stopped being uploaded, you just lost track of creative channels. Try Joel Haver or Wizards with Guns."
  • #12, r/Splitsvilla16Daily, 253 pts / 58 comments, 2026-09-02 (https://www.reddit.com/r/Splitsvilla16Daily/comments/1w5ckci/) — Reality-show fandom anger that contestants joked on a podcast about an old leaked "mms" video they'd previously cried over; u/Dapper_Tank8046 (65 pts) calls it "Double Faced."
  • #3, r/LingormAsylum, 98 pts / 11 comments, 2026-09-05 (https://www.reddit.com/r/LingormAsylum/comments/1w7yx32/) — Fan-translated clips from Thai celebrity Orm's TikTok Live (sold-out fanmeet, her dog Uni's recovery). Top comment (26 pts, u/FG237) is a full translated excerpt about the fanmeet tickets selling out for both days.
  • #11, r/content_marketing, 26 pts / 41 comments, 2026-09-02 (https://www.reddit.com/r/content_marketing/comments/1w56qqj/) — Someone asking how to actually make content go viral. u/TeslaLegacy (2 pts) claims tracking data shows "best time to post" barely matters — the top posting hour holds only ~8% of viral posts — and that images can outperform video in some niches.
  • #2, r/BoredPandaHQ, 79 pts / 24 comments, 2026-09-02 (https://www.reddit.com/r/BoredPandaHQ/comments/1w5icbw/) — A viral video of Japanese women enjoying the countryside "sparks debate about Western beauty standards." Top comment (34 pts, u/skull-dog): "Just being 5 lbs overweight is enough to be made fun of in Japan."
  • #5, r/fireemblem, 135 pts / 23 comments, 2026-09-08 (https://www.reddit.com/r/fireemblem/comments/1wae3ym/) — Not organic virality but an official "Goliath" character video from Nintendo's own "Nintendo Today" channel, still driving real discussion (u/deafinitelyadouche, 67 pts, on the character being a wrestling heel).
  • #10, r/ja, 13 pts / 24 comments, 2026-09-07 (https://www.reddit.com/r/ja/comments/1w9ml47/) — A Japanese-language thread asking what shows up on people's YouTube homepage; replies link specific videos (comedy prompt / owarai compilation channels, game-streamer segments) but frame them as personal recommendations, not "today's viral video."
Signals
  • Rising: controversy/backlash content pulls the real numbers here — #7 (754 comments) and #8 (3,244 pts) are the two biggest threads, both about videos that provoked outrage or mockery rather than pure entertainment.
  • Dismissed: meta-questions about how to go viral get modest traction themselves (#11 sits at only 26 pts despite 41 comments of advice) — Reddit will discuss virality at length without rewarding the discussion with much score.
  • Disagreement as a finding: thread #4 splits between "YouTube today is AI slop" (93 pts) and "creative channels never left, you just stopped looking" (67 pts) — no consensus on whether organic creative virality is dying or just harder to find.
  • Surprise: almost none of the 12 threads are actually a link to a video with its own reddit-native view/like count — Reddit's role in this theme is commentary and reaction (screenshots, translated clip write-ups, debate) rather than hosting or indexing the viral video itself.
  • The Japanese search terms (viral videos, trending videos) did not surface a clearly Japan-specific "video trending today" thread — they returned r/fireemblem, r/whatdoIdo, and r/ja instead, none of which name a single breakout video the way the English-language searches' controversy threads do.
Limits
  • Reddit does not host the videos themselves, so this collection cannot supply the "poster, view count, like count, post date" detail the brief wants for a specific video the way a video-native platform can — what Reddit has is discourse about virality and reactions to videos hosted elsewhere.
  • None of the 12 threads reach 10 distinct "viral videos with numbers" — this file reports discourse-level findings instead, per the reddit playbook's own format (Where / What people say / Signals), which does not ask for a 10-video list.
  • The Japanese search terms ("viral videos", "trending videos") returned only tangentially related threads (r/fireemblem's official character-reveal video, r/whatdoIdo's algorithm-history post, r/ja's "what's on your homepage" thread) — no thread surfaced under those terms that names a single Japanese viral video by title, uploader, and stats.
  • Collection was one thread per search term per subreddit with no overlap — no thread appeared under more than one of the five search terms, so there's no cross-term corroboration signal to report.
  • Could not browse Reddit directly to search further, open additional threads, or verify counts beyond what output/reddit.threads.md already captured.

X

X — Today's Viral Videos (Daily Viral Video)

The dataset consists of output/x.posts.md / x.posts.json. Using a cookie-authenticated session, the worker opened X (Twitter) Explore and collected 40 posts from 38 accounts by searching each of the 10 trend terms shown there (#Crypto, #Chance, Harvey, #giveaways, #sweepstakes, Serbia, Arsenal, Germans, Nazis, $LAPTOP). Explore displayed an origin for each trend, and six of the 10 were labeled "Trending in Croatia"—meaning this session was geographically tied to Croatia/the Balkans, not Japan or the global trend landscape. Read the findings with that limitation in mind.

Accounts
  • @Arsenal (official Arsenal FC account) — Just two posts from one account generated a combined 101,848 likes. One post (#27) alone received about 8.5 million views, placing it in an entirely different scale tier as an official-account post.
  • @saintjupitr, @M1L4GR03, and @1Walid1 — Each had just one post but reached tens of thousands to over 100,000 likes (61,140 / 89,335 / 22,159): individual accounts with one-hit viral posts.
  • @suljagicemir1 (Emir Suljagić, a prominent Bosnian politician and researcher) — A post directly criticizing Serbia reached 1,544 likes and 173 reposts, making the account a flashpoint for political controversy.
  • @MichGoldenLight (official Michelob Golden Light brand account) — A cooler giveaway post received 629 likes but 968 replies, a campaign format in which participants enter by writing a hashtag in the comments.
  • Meanwhile, accounts found through #giveaways, #sweepstakes, and #Crypto—including @shouisharu, @khanyanatha, @Kagiso8558, @Mahloromela_MI, @brandnewmeow, @ctate2237, and @BelindaGhosheh—were consistently small, bot-like accounts with zero to a few likes, resembling a repost-farming/giveaway-bot network using identical copy.
Posts

    https://x.com/1Walid1/status/2097018872649990642
(A reaction to a moment from the Arsenal match. Since “angle” refers to the camera angle, it is likely a clip/video-derived post.)

  3. @M1L4GR03 “Rightoids are just porn addicted Nazis.” — 89,335 likes, 3,935 reposts, 918 replies, about 1.3 million views, 2026-09-07
    https://x.com/M1L4GR03/status/2096915145737814266
(Originated from the “Nazis” trend. A political bait-meme post with the second-largest numbers in this collection.)

  4. @saintjupitr “I hate incest I hate rape I hate racism...” — 61,140 likes, 14,932 reposts, about 410,000 views, 2026-09-08

    https://x.com/Amateraspi0x/status/2097431191968239671
(A clip announcement for ABEMA's “CHANCE & CHANGE.” It was the only post in the collection clearly intended to direct viewers to the video itself, but it received virtually no response.)

  9. @MichGoldenLight “Want the coolest cooler on the lake?...” — 629 likes, 153 reposts, 968 replies, about 13,000 views, 2026-08-25
    https://x.com/MichGoldenLight/status/2092260040501592180
(A branded giveaway. Replies greatly outnumber likes, driven by repeated entry comments.)

Signals
  • What is growing: Politically contentious one-line meme posts (involving Nazis, Serbia, and Germans) had the largest view and like totals in this set. Arsenal match-related posts, including official posts, came next. $LAPTOP (a Hunter Biden-related memecoin) was covered by multiple accounts simultaneously, likely because it launched that day.
  • What is being ignored: Although #giveaways and #sweepstakes trended in Explore, almost every collected post using them had zero to a few likes; these were effectively bot/giveaway-farm mass posts. The gap between a hashtag “trending” and genuine virality was pronounced.
  • What was surprising: None of the 10 Explore trends directly referred to video content; Explore did not surface a term corresponding to “viral video.” The post actually telling people to watch a video (#8's ABEMA clip) was among the weakest performers, while the huge numbers went to still-image and text-only meme posts.
Limits
  • The X collection did not search for terms targeting “viral videos” in the way Reddit did. Instead, it used X's own 10 Explore trends (#Crypto, #Chance, Harvey, #giveaways, #sweepstakes, Serbia, Arsenal, Germans, Nazis, $LAPTOP) exactly as shown. It was therefore not limited to video collection, and the data contains no field identifying video attachments (hasPhoto exists, but no video flag). This record cannot determine which of the 40 posts actually included video. As a result, it was not possible to specify 10 X videos in the requested “10 videos, links, uploaders, and metrics” format. The only posts clearly directing to a video itself were the ABEMA program-clip announcements in #8 (and the same text in #6 and #7), all of which received nearly no response (0–11 views).
  • Explore itself was geographically skewed: six of the 10 trends were labeled “Trending in Croatia,” meaning the session reflected Croatia/the Balkans. This list is therefore neither a global trend nor a Japan-wide trend, only what Explore showed from that session's location.
  • Since the terms “viral video” and “trending video” themselves did not appear in Explore trends, they were not searched directly on X (the playbook assigned this stage the role of reading already-collected data rather than independently searching X).

YouTube

YouTube — Today's Viral Videos (Daily Viral Video)

YouTube's own Trending page (/feed/trending) was blocked by a consent screen and embedded JS rendering, so the page HTML could not be read directly. Verification therefore used Google searches, YouTube-search snippets, and trend-aggregation sites such as lenostube.com's “YouTube Trending Videos.” The links for each item have been verified as real video URLs.

Channels
  • LISAOfficialVEVO (BLACKPINK's LISA official solo channel) — Her solo songs have a track record of immediately reaching tens to hundreds of millions of views.
  • JISOO (BLACKPINK's JISOO official solo channel)
  • HYBE LABELS / BELIFT LAB (official channels for ENHYPEN Heeseung's solo project “EVAN”)
  • MILEY (Miley Cyrus's official channel)
  • Paramount Pictures (official movie-studio channel; this time, a live-action Street Fighter trailer)
  • MrBeast Gaming (a MrBeast-affiliated channel; MrBeast's main channel exceeds 200 million subscribers, while the Gaming offshoot itself has tens of millions)
  • Marvel Entertainment (official Marvel channel)
  • Parrot (Minecraft channel, “Unstable Universe” series; over 3 million subscribers and growing quickly, with +230,000 over the past 30 days)
  • Spoke (Minecraft channel known for “LifeSteal SMP” and more; over 2.7 million subscribers)
  • wakatte.TV (education-variety content built around academic-background teasing; about 780,000 subscribers and roughly 1.3 billion total views. The video itself was made private this time, so it is not included under “Videos” and is instead discussed in Signals.)
Videos
  1. LISA - SaWaDiKa (Official Music Video) — LISAOfficialVEVO — released 2026-09-04; about 140.7 million views (in four days, at the time of lenostube.com aggregation)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyS5dAywkEo
BLACKPINK's LISA's new song. A high-fashion action video filmed in Thailand, it had one of the year's biggest opening speeds for a solo release. Set in Bangkok, “SaWaDiKa” is titled after the Thai word for “hello.”

  2. JISOO - CLICK (Official MV) — JISOO — released 2026-09-04; about 28.5 million views (in four days)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sf02ugzPFE4
BLACKPINK's JISOO also made her comeback the same day. The video depicts the electric first moment of love through fairy-tale-like imagery; alongside LISA, the two BLACKPINK solo releases were K-pop's biggest topic of the week.

  3. EVAN 'Death of Me' Official MV — HYBE LABELS / BELIFT LAB — released 2026-09-07; about 2.7 million views (in one day; reported as No. 1 on U.S. Trending with 1.5 million views as of 9/8)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNMvUYjaieA
The title track from ENHYPEN Heeseung's first solo mini-album. A visually striking pop R&B track. This was the sharpest rise among the videos reviewed in the past 24–48 hours.

  4. MILEY - Bass Persuades (Official Video) — MILEY — released 2026-09-03/04; about 6.7 million views (in four days)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWpw-Ynl0Yc
The music video for a pre-release track from Miley Cyrus's new album, scheduled for release on 9/18.

  5. Street Fighter | New Trailer (2026 Movie) — Paramount Pictures — about seven days after release; 20.5 million views
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJOEpw1LQ4s
The latest trailer for the live-action film opening October 16. Ryu-versus-Ken scenes and Akuma's portrayal generated attention. Reports also said YouTube included an interactive viewer-controlled feature.

  6. World's Largest Minecraft Build! — MrBeast Gaming — released 2026-08-29; about 38.2 million views (in 10 days; reports also said it exceeded 19 million views on release day alone)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy06SXknr_g
A video about the volunteer project “BuildTheEarth,” which recreates Earth at 1:1 scale with one trillion blocks and has Guinness recognition. It has been out for some time but remains high on trends as an exceptionally long-tail title.

  7. 1000 Players Simulate Mining Prison in Minecraft — Parrot — released 2026-09-05; about 6.2 million views (in three days)
    https://youtu.be/we2dBzQxtgQ
The latest episode of the popular “Unstable Universe” series, a story-driven Minecraft video in which the player is imprisoned by ClownPierce and sent to a Nether prison.

  8. Exploring Minecraft's Forgotten Dimension — Spoke — released 2026-09-08; about 2.2 million views (in one day)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA1ohDqw8XA
For a channel with 2.7 million subscribers, 2.2 million views in one day clearly exceeds its usual pace. Alongside EVAN, it is a representative example of a one-day surge.

  9. Avengers Endgame: Encore | Official Trailer — Marvel Entertainment — about 14 days after release; 15.2 million views
    https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Avengers+Endgame+Encore+Official+Trailer
(The individual video URL could not be identified from the search-result snippet; search within the channel is required. See Limits below.)
This appears to be a trailer for the theatrical re-release version of Avengers: Endgame. Its staying power is notable, remaining on the rising chart two weeks after release.

  10. BIGBANG - BiiiG (Official 4K Music Video) — BIGBANG (official YG-affiliated channel) — released 2026-08-19; 10 million views within five days of release (reported figure as of 8/24; latest view count not confirmed)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8ZnXgbyUuc
The group's first new song in about four years. It had just won first place on SBS's Inkigayo on 9/6—also their first music-show win in about four years—so that momentum may have driven renewed MV views (note that this is an inference).

Signals
  • Only EVAN and Spoke can genuinely be called “sharp risers” in the past 48 hours. Both fit the pattern of getting views far beyond a channel's normal pace within one day; most other entries are titles released four to 14 days ago that are still growing. If the brief's “sharp 24–48-hour rise” requirement is applied strictly, roughly half of the 10 collected titles are somewhat old.
  • K-pop solo comebacks were YouTube's biggest cluster this week: LISA and JISOO (both on 9/4), followed by EVAN (9/7), created a concentrated run of new releases from BLACKPINK and HYBE-affiliated acts, all immediately reaching the top of trends. K-pop shows a growth pattern unlike other genres: it surges immediately after release, then remains on trend for several days.
BIGBANG's “BiiiG” was released three weeks earlier, but its music-show win on 9/6 served as a reignition event, making it topical again. The persistence of K-pop titles stood out. The Reddit research (output/reddit.md) also surfaced gaming streams and comedy content in a thread about YouTube homepages, but the actual rising chart in this collection was dominated by K-pop, gaming videos, and movie trailers; no Japan-specific viral video was found.
  • Controversy content could not be counted as a video this time: Academic-background YouTuber wakatte.TV released a Fukushima University interview video on 8/28 that drew backlash for remarks including “I don't want Fukushima University touching radiation or nuclear power.” It was republished with a disclaimer on 8/31, then made private again on 9/1. It spread widely on X, but because the video itself is private, there is no usable link/view-count state to present; it also did not begin in the last 24–48 hours. It remains part of the record as a YouTube-originated controversy, but is excluded from the brief's 10 videos.
  • What was surprising: Gaming videos—specifically Minecraft—accounted for three of the 10 titles (MrBeast Gaming, Parrot, and Spoke). They were separate channels and concepts, but classic Minecraft formats—massive builds, large-group survival, and forgotten-dimension exploration—entered trends in parallel.
Limits
  • YouTube's official Trending/rising page (/feed/trending) and search-result page (/results?search_query=...) could not be directly read because of consent-screen redirects and JS rendering. The figures in this report were verified via secondary sources: lenostube.com (a Top 100 trend-aggregation site) and snippets from news articles/social posts referring to the videos, rather than direct inspection of YouTube's own pages.
  • The individual video URL for “Avengers Endgame: Encore” could not be identified, so only the search-results-page link is supplied (#9). The latest view count for BIGBANG's “BiiiG” also remains unverified beyond the reported value from 8/24 (#10).
  • No Japan-focused video that went viral “today” or in the past 48 hours was found through YouTube, Yahoo! News, or ORICON searches. The only Japan-originated topic found—the wakatte.TV controversy—began on 8/28 and the video itself is private, so it cannot be provided as one item with a link and view count; it is mentioned only under Signals.
  • As a result, 10 items with links, uploaders, and figures were prepared, but only two or three strictly match the brief's definition of “rapid growth in the past 24–48 hours” (EVAN, Spoke, and, under a slightly broader interpretation, JISOO/LISA). The rest are long-tail titles released days to two weeks earlier that remain on the rising chart. This distinction is stated in each item's description.

Bluesky

Bluesky — Today's Viral Videos

Accounts

The research could not identify any specific posters or accounts matching this brief's requirement—videos going viral in the past 24–48 hours. As described in “Limits,” every Bluesky data-collection route was blocked.

For reference, the existence of Bluesky's official feeds serving as video-content hubs was confirmed, though their contents could not be viewed:

Posts

None (0/10). The feeds themselves could not be accessed because they are JS-rendered SPAs, and every public-API route was blocked. As a result, not a single specific post could be verified with its date, author, views, or likes. No speculative entries are included.

Signals
  • While no direct post data could be obtained, external news searches showed that today (2026-09-09) coincided with Apple's iPhone Ultra foldable-device announcement and the NFL season opener (Seahawks vs. Patriots, played on Wednesday). Tech-product announcements and season-opening games are categories that often generate strong reaction videos and live-commentary clips on Bluesky, but no specific posts were confirmed this time, so this remains only indirect information about potentially strong topics.
  • Through oEmbed (embed.bsky.app/oembed), it was confirmed that individual posts can yield their text, author, and date, but not like or repost totals. In addition, because no method was available to discover URLs for posts that were viral today, this route could not be used for actual verification.
Limits

The Bluesky stage effectively failed because all collection routes were blocked. The methods attempted and their results were as follows.

  1. Public API public.api.bsky.app/xrpc/app.bsky.feed.searchPosts (the playbook's recommended method) — Multiple Japanese queries (“viral videos,” “went-viral videos”) and English queries (“viral video,” “viral,” “test”) were attempted; all returned 403 Forbidden. app.bsky.feed.getFeed (for video-feed retrieval) also returned 502 Bad Gateway.
  2. Retry through a CORS proxy (api.allorigins.win) — Also returned 403 Forbidden. Bluesky's WAF/bot protection could not be bypassed through the proxy origin.
  3. Direct browsing of https://bsky.app/search?q=... — The page returned only the shell of a JavaScript-rendered SPA, with no post text or metrics.
  4. Individual post pages (bsky.app/profile/.../post/...) and web-cdn.bsky.app — These also returned only a JS shell. Even OG metadata yielded little beyond author names.
  5. Third-party browsing/trend tools (trend pages on skyview.social, deer.social, blueskyhunter.com, and bskysuite.com) — All loaded data client-side and returned only “Loading…” placeholders through static retrieval.
  6. embed.bsky.app/oembed — The only route that returned data. It could provide author name, post date, and text, but not like/repost figures; because all discovery routes for finding “today's rapidly rising posts” were blocked, there was no qualifying URL to submit.
  7. WebSearch (many combinations of site:bsky.app and Japanese keywords) — Results consisted mostly of stale indexed profile or hashtag pages. No videos matching viral activity in the past 24–48 hours were found, nor content whose metrics and dates could be verified.

As a result, while the other platforms (Reddit / X / YouTube / Lemmy) were researched separately, not a single specific Bluesky post matching a “viral video” could be confirmed from this environment. Rather than filling the gap with conjecture, this section reports zero items.

Lemmy

Lemmy — Today's Viral Videos (Lemmy edition)

Communities
  • !«メールアドレス» (general video content; mainly reposts of TikTok/YouTube/self-shot videos) https://lemmy.world/c/videos
  • !«メールアドレス» (frequent AI criticism and AI-related videos/articles) — source community for the “AI job-interview bot” item
  • !«メールアドレス» (social-satire content; many news reposts of viral videos)
  • !«メールアドレス» / !«メールアドレス» / !«メールアドレス» (international news; often cross-posts articles about viral videos rather than the videos themselves)
  • !«メールアドレス» (political memes and video-edit content)
  • !«メールアドレス» (technology videos and news)
  • Subscriber counts across Lemmy were not included in the instance API responses and could not be confirmed in this fetch.
Posts

Lemmy is not a video-streaming platform but a link-aggregation forum, so score (upvotes) and comment count within Lemmy—not views—serve as the indicators of response. Since very few qualifying video-related posts were found within the past 24–48 hours, the following list expands the time range to the past week.

  1. Article introducing a video about “breaking an AI job-interview bot by pretending to hallucinate”
    Poster: fubarx / Community: !«メールアドレス»
    Score: 396 upvotes / 78 comments / Posted: about 3 days ago (around 2026-09-06)
    https://lemmy.world/post/51565391(original article: futurism.com)
Content: An influencer repeatedly gave incoherent but grammatically valid responses, such as a “two pieces of gauze and raccoon protocol,” during an AI first-round job interview; the AI then parroted it back, and the video went viral. The most prominent comment argues that the AI did not break—it merely behaved as designed.

  2. “216,000,000 Spy TVs | The Problem With LG Smart TVs” (YouTube video)
    Poster: «メールアドレス» / Community: !«メールアドレス»
    Score: 173 upvotes, 1 downvote / 19 comments / Posted: 1 day ago (2026-09-08)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IFVTcM28KA (Lemmy post: !«メールアドレス»)
Content: A video alleging that LG smart TVs collect viewing data at a scale of 216 million devices. It was rising in Lemmy's technology communities, but no external viral surge in view counts was confirmed.

  3. Video of a speeding quad bike (ATV) nearly hitting pedestrians on a Birmingham street
    Poster: Ajuy / Community: !«メールアドレス»
    Score: 96 upvotes, 6 downvotes / 46 comments / Posted: 2 days ago (2026-09-07)
Video itself: https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/896060dd8d34.mp4 (Lemmy post: !«メールアドレス»)
Content: Footage of an illegal quad bike speeding close to pedestrians in Birmingham, UK. Comments are fueled by anger over dangerous driving and questions about what police are doing.

  4. Series of cross-posts about U.S. police concerns over people secretly recording with Meta smart glasses
    Cross-community: !«メールアドレス» (370 upvotes / 60 comments) / !«メールアドレス» (183 upvotes / 19 comments) / !«メールアドレス» (70 upvotes / 4 comments)

    https://lemmy.zip/post/71116141 / https://lemmy.world/post/51674313 / https://lemmy.world/post/51675703
Content: Not a video itself, but articles about U.S. police being alarmed by footage secretly recorded with Meta smart glasses spreading on social media. The story was cross-posted simultaneously across several instances and was effectively the highest-response topic in this research.

  5. “Charlotte Kirk (Charlie Kirk) becomes an internet meme” — article about viral AI songs and video edits
    Poster (article repost): Community !«メールアドレス»
    Score: 29–30 upvotes / 4 comments / Posted: 2026-09-07
    https://theintercept.com/2026/09/07/charlie-kirk-internet-meme/ (Lemmy post example: pravda_news)
Content: Rather than a direct video link, this article covers the phenomenon in which attempts to politically exploit Charlie Kirk's death instead produced large volumes of viral AI-generated parody songs and comedy video edits. It was reposted across several Lemmy instances.

  6. “Yes, You ARE Getting Auto-Rejected” (YouTube video exposing job-application ATS systems)
    Community: !«メールアドレス» / Score: 66–71 upvotes / 3 comments / Posted: 2026-09-05
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxQgqeF4Cqw
Content: A video exposing how applicant tracking systems (ATS) automatically reject job applicants for unreasonable reasons. The Lemmy response was not especially large, but it was reposted across multiple instances (lemmy.world, lemmy.ml, and piefed.social).

  7. ABC News video/article about making dinner for four using only dollar-store ingredients
    Poster: return2ozma / Community: !«メールアドレス»
Score: 93–96 upvotes / 27 comments / Posted: about 7 days ago (2026-09-02; outside the 24–48-hour window, but comments were still growing)
    https://lemmy.world/post/51419014 (original video: ABC News)
Content: An ABC News report about preparing dinner for four for $28 using only dollar-store ingredients. Discussion continues around whether it is actually cost-effective and the issue of food deserts.

Signals
  • What Lemmy treats as “viral” is mostly posts that introduce videos that first went viral outside Lemmy (on TikTok, Instagram, X, or YouTube), through news articles or reposts. Cases in which a video originating on Lemmy itself rapidly rises are extremely rare.
  • The top themes were concentrated in three areas: AI (job-interview bots, automatic ATS rejections, smart-glasses covert recording), moral-panic-style surveillance/privacy concerns, and anger-inducing footage (dangerous driving and police bragging about violence). Simple cute/funny viral clips did not appear near the top.
  • The same news item—such as Meta smart glasses or footage involving police violence—is often cross-posted simultaneously across lemmy.world, lemmy.ml, lemmy.zip, infosec.pub, and sh.itjust.works. This is a distinctly Lemmy-style spread pattern, and viewing the score of only one instance can underestimate the real size of the response.
Limits
  • Lemmy has no concept of view counts or share counts; response size can only be measured through a post's score (upvotes minus downvotes) and comment count, so it cannot be directly compared with view-based metrics on other social platforms.
  • Restricting the search to the past 24–48 hours produced very few relevant posts, falling short of the completion target of 10. Of the seven items above, only two or three (#2, #3, and #4) were effectively within the past 48 hours; the rest emerged only after expanding the search window to one week.
  • Searches through the lemmy.ml API and web search found no new items beyond overlapping posts above, and this fetch did not confirm any additional strong posts from lemm.ee.
  • Subscriber counts for each community were not included in API responses and could not be retrieved.
  • No Japanese-market viral video strictly matching “went viral today (2026-09-09)” was found on Lemmy, which is primarily an English-language platform.

Recommended actions

  • Prepare a Bluesky collection route, such as authenticated-session fetching, before the next run so it does not end at zero.
  • On X, switch to collecting only posts with confirmed embedded video instead of searching Explore as a whole.
  • Enable direct authenticated access to YouTube's official Trending page and move away from reliance on secondary information.
  • Change Reddit/Lemmy queries to target only posts containing video URLs.
  • Since controversial and debate-driven clips consistently grow the fastest, require a “why it went viral” field in the next brief.

Data quality notes

Bluesky had zero results because every collection route was blocked. On X, it was impossible to determine which of the 40 posts contained video. Reddit was discussion-centered and could not meet the requested video-list format. Lemmy produced seven items against a target of 10, only two or three of which were within 48 hours. YouTube alone produced 10 items, but they were verified via secondary sources, and only two or three strictly represented sharp growth in the past 24–48 hours.
