Daily Google Play Report 2026-09-07
The top ranks were 99% unchanged; the only movement was in the 31–45 tail (held 94%, new 4%)—where HR’s android-finance/grossing saw a complete reshuffle, led by TradingView at #1 (+36) and Splitwise at #5 (+38), while three apps including Family GPS Locator debuted in multiple countries on the same day.
1. New entries
Three apps entered multiple countries on the same day. Family GPS Locator・Kids Safety appeared in android-parenting/grossing at DE #19 and US #42; Game Maps IRL in android-maps-and-navigation/grossing at US #34 and HR #42; and Hypic in android-photography/grossing at GB #43 and KR #45. Among single-country entries, DE’s android-events stood out: EventPics #2 (grossing), Hopfenmeile App #8, and Connichi #13 (free). In GB, three route-planning apps entered maps-and-navigation/grossing at once (RoadWarrior #21, Tube Map #25, Multi-Stop Route Planner #27). KR saw direct entries near the top with AccuWeather #3 and Dr.EV #4.
2. Sharp rises over the period
The reference date, 2026-08-26, is the oldest date in the archive—just 12 days ago—so this is not yet a full month of data. The largest cluster was HR’s android-finance/grossing: TradingView #1 (+36), Splitwise #5 (+38), and Kraken #6 (+23), alongside Investing.com #2 and Finanzguru #3, which were absent on the reference date. HR’s finance/free chart saw PhonePe #1, Airtel #2, and Paytm #3 rise to the top from being absent on the reference date. Short-form dramas and IPTV also rose across markets: BlinkDrama GB #17 (+27), Pro IPTV GB #18 (+27) and DE #12 (+25), and HotShort JP #11 (+23). In the US, paid games were strong, with Tiny Terraces #3 (+25) and Afterplace #18 (+25).
3. By tier
top (1–10) was held 99% / new 0% / |Δ| 0.1; mid (11–30) was 98% / 0% / 0.4; bottom (31–45) was 94% / new 4% / 0.6. In practical terms, movement was confined to the tail. Because developer names are almost entirely missing from the data, it is not possible to determine whether a small number of developers occupy the top ranks.
4. By country
top-10 held was 98–99% across all six markets. The US had the most new entries at 47, followed by DE with 37, JP with 35, HR with 32, GB with 31, and KR with 29. Shared across markets were X and Canva (both #1 in all six countries), along with ChatGPT and Spotify (top-10 in every market, including grossing charts). In contrast, DE’s events apps, GB’s London transport apps, and KR’s Dr.EV were entirely local.
5. By category
android-sports saw the most turnover (15 new entries, top-10 held 96%), followed by android-maps-and-navigation (10 new entries, 97%). android-photography had 13 new entries but a 100% top-10 held rate, so changes were limited to AI editing and AI video apps in the tail. Conversely, android-comics (1 new entry), android-watch-face (1 new entry), and android-news-and-magazines (2 new entries) were nearly static.
Key findings
1. Only three same-day multi-country debuts; Family GPS Locator entered parenting/grossing in DE and US simultaneously
Family GPS Locator・Kids Safety entered android-parenting/grossing at DE #19 and US #42; Game Maps IRL entered maps-and-navigation/grossing at US #34 and HR #42; and Hypic entered photography/grossing at GB #43 and KR #45. All three entered monetization charts, making them stronger early signals of broader reach than single-country entries. However, all were ranked 31st or lower or in the middle tier, so their scale remains small.
Confidence: High
2. HR’s android-finance/grossing completely reshuffled in 12 days
TradingView #1 (+36), Splitwise #5 (+38), and Kraken #6 (+23) rose sharply from the 2026-08-26 reference date, while Investing.com at #2 and Finanzguru at #3 were absent on that date. This is not a rise by a single app—the upper tier itself has been replaced—making HR’s finance category the market with the clearest room for entry right now.
Confidence: High
3. Indian payment apps took over HR’s top three finance/free slots after being absent on the reference date
PhonePe #1, Airtel #2, and Paytm #3, along with Astrotalk #2 in lifestyle/free, all entered the top 20 after being absent on 2026-08-26. This is an unusual combination for the HR market geographically, so it needs to be treated as either a real shift in demand or an anomaly in the chart. Their presence should be checked again the next day before using this in planning.
Confidence: Medium
4. Movement is limited to the tail: only the bottom tier has 4% new entries; top and mid have 0%
Compared with top (1–10), with held 99% and |Δ| 0.1, and mid (11–30), with held 98% and |Δ| 0.4, bottom (31–45) recorded held 94%, new 4%, and |Δ| 0.6. Nearly all of today’s new entries occurred below rank 31, so planning should assume that the top slots will not shift within a single day.
Confidence: High
5. Short-form dramas and IPTV are rising across countries over the period
BlinkDrama reached GB entertainment/grossing #17 (+27); Pro IPTV reached GB video-players/free #18 (+27) and DE #12 (+25); and HotShort reached JP entertainment/free #11 (+23). Meanwhile, ReelShort and DramaWave are in the entertainment/free top-10 in all six markets, indicating an area where established winners and emerging growth are occurring simultaneously.
Confidence: High
6. AI creation tools and AI language learning are growing simultaneously in separate categories
In tools/grossing, DreamWeave AI reached JP #25 (+18) and Vorelix AI reached DE #39 (+6); HypeCut was a new entry at JP #30 in productivity/grossing. On the language side, Fluzy reached HR #8 (+22), LingQuiz KR #16 (+23), Elyra was a new entry at GB #19, and Linguza reached HR #4 after being absent on the reference date. AI is not a single-category story: it is rising from the tail across tools, productivity, and education.
Confidence: Medium
7. Sports and maps turned over; comics, watch faces, and news stood still
android-sports saw the largest turnover, with 15 new entries and top-10 held at 96%; new entries included Equilab (DE #25), Golfshot (GB #28), and Card Ladder (GB #33). android-maps-and-navigation had 10 new entries and 97% held, including three route-planning apps entering GB simultaneously. By contrast, android-comics had 1 new entry, android-watch-face had 1, and android-news-and-magazines had 2, while top-10 held was 99–100%, indicating almost no change.
Confidence: High
8. DE’s events category is emerging as a local-only cluster
In DE’s android-events, EventPics debuted at grossing #2, Hopfenmeile App at free #8, and Connichi at free #13 on the same day. There was no corresponding movement in the other five markets, suggesting a DE-specific seasonal factor. Across the category as a whole, android-events had 6 new entries and top-10 held at 98%.
Confidence: Medium
9. The US saw substantial turnover in paid games
In android-game/paid, Tiny Terraces #3 (+25), Afterplace #18 (+25), and Slots & Daggers #7 (+20) rose from the reference date. Smash Land! #19 (+23) also rose on the free side. The US had the most new entries among the six markets at 47, making it the market with the highest tail-end liquidity as well.
Confidence: High
10. Global staples occupying the top-10 in all six countries are not moving
X (news-and-magazines/free) and Canva (art-and-design/free) are #1 in all six markets; ChatGPT is #1 in five markets and #3 in KR; Spotify is top-10 in every market on both music-and-audio free and grossing charts. The top spots in these categories are effectively blocked for now, so the better targets are #2 or below, or other categories.
Confidence: High
Recommended actions
- Recheck tomorrow HR’s android-finance/grossing leaders (TradingView #1, Investing.com #2, Finanzguru #3, Splitwise #5, Kraken #6), determine whether the reshuffle that occurred over 12 days is lasting or temporary, then develop a financial-tool comparison concept.
- Before turning them into a concept, confirm that PhonePe #1, Airtel #2, and Paytm #3—newly entering HR’s finance/free after being absent on the reference date—persist for at least two consecutive days, given the major mismatch between the market and their origins (to rule out a chart anomaly).
- Add the three simultaneous multi-country entries (Family GPS Locator, Game Maps IRL, Hypic) to a fixed watchlist and monitor whether any reaches a third country from tomorrow onward. Once that happens, develop a theme around either family location sharing, game-linked maps, or AI photo editing.
- RoadWarrior #21, Tube Map #25, and Multi-Stop Route Planner #27 entered GB’s maps-and-navigation/grossing chart on the same day and appear to reflect a single demand for business route planning. They are worth validating as a GB-only, B2B-leaning concept.
- Since ranks 1–10 were held 99% with 0% new entries, do not use a “new #1” angle for today’s coverage. New entries are concentrated in ranks 31–45, so the article should focus on turnover in the tail.
- Because TOP_GROSSING/TOP_PAID collection failures are concentrated in DE, GB, and KR, prioritize recovery attempts for those combinations. Treat monetization-chart analysis as provisional until then.
- As long as the reference date remains only 12 days ago, include the actual number of days (12 in this case) whenever using the term “monthly” in reports.
Data quality notes
The configuration calls for 472 charts. Excluding 158 that the source does not publish leaves 314, but 439 charts / 16,242 rows were actually retrieved, with 33 missing. Of the 439 charts, 413 could be compared with the previous day, 2026-09-06; the other 26 lacked a prior retrieval, so they were not assessed for “new entries” (being incomparable is distinct from having newly entered). Six recent runs completed only partially and 30 fetches failed. The degraded sources are concentrated in TOP_GROSSING and TOP_PAID (grossing is missing for more than 20 categories in DE and GB; paid is also missing in GB/KR). As a result, new entries and rises in monetization charts are biased toward areas with thin coverage, and actual movement may be missed. The monthly reference date of 2026-08-26 is the oldest retrieval in the archive and only 12 days before today—although described as “monthly,” this is not a month-over-month comparison. developer is missing for 98,182 records, ratingCount for 98,182 records, and rating for 6,156 records, so this report cannot assess developer-level concentration (all “developers holding most slots” values in the tier table are “—”) or make judgments based on rating counts.
