KEN’S CAT LOG

Daily App Store Report 2026-09-15

On 2026-09-15, we collected 468 charts and 45,690 rows with zero missing data; all charts can be compared with the previous day. The biggest discoveries were Moxzie (ios-food-drink/grossing) and Moon Lunation (ios-weather/paid) appearing in five countries on the same day, and Microsoft Corporation simultaneously launching Teams, Outlook, and Power Apps in overall and business categories across DE/US/JP/HR.

1. New Entries

The strongest signal is a same-day appearance across multiple countries. Moxzie (Brion Caste) entered ios-food-drink/grossing simultaneously in five countries: KR #21, JP #34, DE #48, GB #59, and US #75. Moon Lunation (TraLand.com) also entered ios-weather/paid in five countries at once: JP #47, GB #56, HR #60, KR #71, and DE #83. They were followed by MMBook Ocean (ios-books/free, US #32 and four other countries), Elastic Melody (ios-music/paid, four countries), and YaraArt (ios-graphics-design/free, four countries). Among established major publishers, Microsoft Corporation launched Teams (DE #15, US #31, JP #96), Outlook (DE #40, US #58, HR #67), and Power Apps (JP #40, DE #62, HR #98) on the same day. Notable single-country debuts include Small Boat Watch at #1 in GB (ios-news/free) and four simultaneous #1 paid-chart entries in HR.

2. Sharp Rises Since the Baseline

The baseline date is 2026-08-24, 22 days before the report date and the earliest collection date in the archive. Please note that this does not represent a full month. Gains were concentrated almost entirely in JP and US; the monthly-rise sections for DE, GB, HR, and KR were empty. The largest gain was Feng Shui Diagnosis: Xuan Kong Flying Star Feng Shui at #7 in JP (+89), followed by SessionTalk Pro Softphone at #14 in US (+80) and CalcTape at #15 in US (+80). SQUARE ENIX occupied multiple spots in JP, with DRAGON QUEST WALK at #3 in grossing (+75). Among apps absent on the baseline date that entered the top 20 this time, DRAGON BALL Z DOKKAN BATTLE reached #1 in both JP games/grossing and overall/grossing, while Muse from Meta reached #2 in US productivity/free and overall/free.

3. By Tier

The top tier (1–10) was stable, with 84% held, 2% new, and an average movement of 2.9. The mid tier showed 80%/7%/7.2, while the bottom tier (51–100) saw concentrated turnover at 69%/19%/|Δ| 10.1. New entries occur almost entirely in the tail. Google retained the most slots across all three tiers (top 132, mid 136, bottom 74).

4. By Country

All 78 charts in each of the six markets were comparable. Top-10 retention was 86% in JP and US, 85% in KR, 83% in DE and GB, and 81% in HR. HR had the most new entries at 1,071, while KR had the fewest at 691, making HR the most volatile market. Shared hits in the top 10 across all six countries were TestFlight, Duolingo (education/grossing), Minecraft, and Procreate Pocket.

5. By Category

The most new entries were in ios-utilities (356), followed by ios-education (343) and ios-music (332). At the other end, ios-shopping had the fewest at 73. ios-social-networking (92%) and ios-photo-video (91%) had the highest retention rates and moved the least, while overall, ios-lifestyle, ios-business, ios-finance, ios-navigation, and ios-sports had the lowest retention at 79%.

Key Findings

1. Moxzie enters ios-food-drink/grossing in five countries on the same day — today's strongest new-entry signal

Moxzie by Brion Caste entered the paid food-and-drink charts in five of the six tracked markets on the same day: KR #21, JP #34, DE #48, GB #59, and US #75. Unlike an appearance in a single chart, simultaneous cross-regional exposure suggests a distribution initiative or broader storefront visibility. If you are exploring food-related concepts, this is the app to watch today.

Confidence: High

2. Moon Lunation enters ios-weather/paid in five countries on the same day

Moon Lunation by TraLand.com appeared simultaneously in five markets: JP #47, GB #56, HR #60, KR #71, and DE #83. Its broad paid-chart entry around the highly seasonal theme of lunar phases may indicate rising demand for weather- and astronomy-related apps. However, US/ios-weather/TOP_GROSSING is marked degraded, so the paid side of the weather category cannot be verified for the US alone.

Confidence: High

3. Microsoft launches Teams, Outlook, and Power Apps across multiple countries on the same day

Microsoft Teams entered overall/free at DE #15, US #31, and JP #96; Microsoft Outlook entered at DE #40, US #58, and HR #67; and Power Apps entered ios-business/free at JP #40, DE #62, and HR #98. The simultaneous resurgence of all three is much more indicative of a change in corporate distribution or visibility than natural word-of-mouth growth. Microsoft also ranks second overall in retained slots, with 87 in the mid tier and 45 in the bottom tier.

Confidence: High

4. The 2026-08-24 baseline is 22 days old — this is a three-week comparison, not a monthly one

The baseline date for monthly gains, 2026-08-24, is the archive's earliest collection date and falls 22 days before this report. Since a full month of archive data is not yet available, figures such as +89 in this section should be read as changes over roughly three weeks. They cannot support conclusions about long-term trends.

Confidence: High

5. Monthly gains appear only in JP and US; DE, GB, HR, and KR show none

The country-level monthly-gain sections contain entries only for JP (including Feng Shui Diagnosis at #7, +89) and US (including SessionTalk Pro Softphone at #14, +80); DE, GB, HR, and KR display “—”. Sustained gains over a three-week period are currently limited to these two markets, while movement in Europe and Korea is primarily short-term day-over-day volatility.

Confidence: Medium

6. Absent on the baseline date, now #1 — Dokkan Battle takes both JP games and overall grossing

DRAGON BALL Z DOKKAN BATTLE (Bandai Namco) was absent from the relevant charts on the 2026-08-24 baseline date, but now ranks #1 in both JP ios-games/grossing and overall/grossing. Similarly, Muse from Meta reached #2 in both US ios-productivity/free and overall/free, while 2AM CAM reached #1 in US ios-photo-video/paid.

Confidence: High

7. Turnover is concentrated in the tail — bottom: 19% new and |Δ| 10.1; top: 2% new and |Δ| 2.9

The top tier (1–10) is nearly fixed, at 84% held, 2% new, and average movement of 2.9. The mid tier (11–50) is 80% held, 7% new, and |Δ| 7.2; the bottom tier (51–100) is 69% held, 19% new, and |Δ| 10.1. The real entry point for new apps is rank 51 and below, so the bottom tier is the right place to observe early momentum. Google holds the most slots in every tier: top 132, mid 136, and bottom 74.

Confidence: High

8. HR is the most fluid market (1,071 new entries; 81% top-10 retention), while KR is the most stable (691 new entries)

HR had the most new entries at 1,071 and the lowest top-10 retention rate at 81%. By contrast, KR had 691 new entries and 85% retention, while JP and US each retained 86%. In HR, Fortinet NSE 4 Network Sec, Mealie, AeroPads, and Yoink simultaneously took #1 in four paid charts. This indicates that, in a smaller market, relatively few downloads can shift a chart leader. HR is suitable for observing early tests, while JP and US are better for validating sustained adoption.

Confidence: High

9. Global top-10 hits across all six countries are developer tools, learning, and creative apps

TestFlight ranked #1 in all six countries, while Duolingo ranked #1 in ios-education/grossing across all six. Minecraft and Procreate Pocket also made the top 10 in every market. LinkedIn ranked #1 in DE, GB, HR, and US, while Kling AI made the top 10 in all six countries in both free and grossing charts. These results confirm developer tools, language learning, and creative production as universal themes with limited regional variation.

Confidence: High

10. ios-utilities turns over quickly (356 new entries), while ios-social-networking is stagnant (92% retention)

ios-utilities led in new entries with 356, followed by ios-education with 343 and ios-music with 332; ios-shopping stood out at just 73. Top-10 retention was highest for ios-social-networking at 92%, ios-photo-video at 91%, and ios-magazines-newspapers at 90%. Overall, ios-lifestyle, ios-business, ios-finance, ios-navigation, and ios-sports were the most mobile at 79%. Utilities offer greater room for new apps to enter, whereas social and photo categories have more entrenched incumbents.

Confidence: High

11. Day-over-day gains in tools and calculator utilities are scattered across six markets

PagePing - Auto Refresh rose to JP #12 (+84), FlashAir Instant WIFI to JP #18 (+79), and QR코드 to HR #21 (+75) in ios-utilities. Business and finance also saw gains from single-purpose calculation tools: Date Wheel date calculator at GB #12 (+82), ITI Calc at US #9 (+76), and CalcTape at US #15 (+80). Demand for compact utility apps was strong across markets today.

Confidence: Medium

12. Small Boat Watch debuts at #1 in GB ios-news/free

Small Boat Watch by REFORM UK PARTY LIMITED debuted directly at #1 in GB ios-news/free. It is the most broadly notable single-country new-entry case today, showing that a highly topical app can take the news-chart lead in a single day. ios-news is a relatively stable category with 88% top-10 retention, making this break into first place unusual.

Confidence: High

Recommended Actions

  • Add Moxzie (ios-food-drink/grossing, KR #21 to US #75) and Moon Lunation (ios-weather/paid, five countries) to the watchlist for the coming days. Check whether they retain their positions for two consecutive days and rise from the tail into the mid tier. Their five-country same-day appearance is today's only broad regional signal.
  • The simultaneous appearance of Microsoft's Teams, Outlook, and Power Apps likely reflects a change in corporate visibility. Compare storefront placement and version-update histories to distinguish organic resurgence from a deliberate initiative.
  • Use the SQUARE ENIX cluster in JP—DRAGON QUEST WALK at grossing #3 (+75) and DRAGON BALL Z DOKKAN BATTLE's return to grossing #1—as a candidate for today's coverage of the JP game monetization landscape. JP's 86% top-10 retention makes this movement exceptional.
  • Fix new-app discovery on the bottom tier (ranks 51–100, 19% new). The top tier is nearly static at 2% new, so it will not surface new releases.
  • Shift operations to use HR (1,071 new entries, 81% retention) as the observation market for early testing and JP/US (86% retention) for assessing sustained adoption.
  • Inspect and restore the degraded collection paths for DE/featured, KR/featured, and US/ios-weather/TOP_GROSSING before the next collection. The paid side of the weather category is currently unverifiable only in the US.
  • Since the archive begins on 2026-08-24 and contains only 22 days of data, standardize use of the term “monthly” with a note until around 2026-09-24, when true monthly comparisons become possible.

Data Quality Notes

All 468 target charts were collected with zero missing charts, producing 45,690 rows for analysis. All 468 of 468 charts were comparable with the previous collection on 2026-09-14, with no gaps due to unavailable comparisons. However, three sources—DE/featured, KR/featured, and US/ios-weather/TOP_GROSSING—are in a degraded state, so insights relating to them should be treated with lower confidence. Rating data is missing for 274,234 records, preventing analysis based on rating values. The monthly baseline date of 2026-08-24 is the archive's earliest collection date and is 22 days before the report date; because a full month is not yet available, “monthly” movement represents roughly three weeks. In addition, rows from charts without a prior collection are not counted as new entries, so the absence of a comparison should not be interpreted as evidence of a new entry.
